Abstract
The purpose of this research was to explore the relationships between organizational continuance commitment and work motivation. The study was conducted in Eldoret Municipality, Kenya and the unit of analysis was employees of the selected hotels. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The target population was 298 workers in the selected hotels. The sample size for the study was 168 employees. Primary data was collected using questionnaires while secondary data was adapted from books and internet. Data was analyzed using Pearson’s correlation model. To determine the effects of continuance commitment on work motivation of employees in the selected hotels, a regression test was conducted. The regression test results indicated that there is a positive and significant relationship between continuance commitment and work motivation (p=0.301, p<0.01). This implies that an increase in continuance commitment of 1% is likely to result in a 0.301% increase in work commitment suggesting that work motivation can be represented as a function of continuance commitment. Hotels are advised to provide enabling environment that can foster continuance commitment. The researcher has provided various recommendations on how to foster employees’ continuance commitment in the hotel industry.
