ABSTRACT
The research was about the effect of the ban of Single-use plastic bags (SUPBs) specifically to market vendors. Due to the effects caused by the ban of SUPBs the main objectives of the study was to establish the effects of the ban on sales output, the perception of the ban on market vendors, environmental effects of SUPBs and the alternative of SUPBs. The researcher used simple random sampling. The researcher adopted descriptive research design. This allowed the researcher to gather data, summarize it and present and interpret it for the purpose of clarification. The study used questionnaire collect empirical data from the obtained sample size. Each item in the questioner was developed to address specific objective and the research questions. The sample size was 25 respondents. The analysis was done as per the questioners that were used to collect data and results presented in table, graphs and charts to capture the major findings. The study found out most of the markets vendors have been affected by the ban of SUPBs has it had reduced the numbers of sales or others have experienced decrease in numbers of customers this is because most of the market vendors buy the alternative of SUPBs at high cost and they have to sales it slightly higher. The researcher found out that the perceptions of the market vendors toward the ban of SUPBs affected the rate of adoption of environmentally friendly options of SUPBs. The study found out that most of the market vendors agreed that SUPBs had major environmental effects on not only to humans but also on animals such as cows and also clog sewers when it floods. The study found out that most of the respondents had used the alternative of SUPBs and they have seen a greater outcome since the ban took place. The study recommends that the government should reduce the price of the alternative of SUPBs in order for the consumers and market vendors to encourage high number of use.
