ABSTRACT
cohabitation is emerging as an important factors in male selection in many societies .It has been however associated with a number of problems including unwanted pregnancies ,abortion ,marriage failures, sexual abuse ,sexually transmitted diseases and hiv/aids .In key cohabitation has widely been a matter of public debate with limited systematic studies effort to fill the gap the current study focused on cohabitation among university students of maasai Mara .The objective of this study aimed at identifying at the factors that contribute to cohabitation by university students and establishing prevalence of cohabitation among the students. The study also seeks to establish the relationship between parent socio-economic and demographic status on the prevalence and practice of cohabitation among university students. The conceptual framework for this study was derived from Erick Erickson’s theory of personality of development and Brofenbrenners Ecological models of Human Development. Three hundred respondents in their second and fourth with use of questionnaires were employed to gather information from the respondents. In addition, focus group discussion were used be carried out with persons involved with students affair will provide more in depth understanding of the issues under study.
The objective of the study was to show how prevalence of cohabitation among the students and the factors that leads to cohabitation and its effects to the students.
The research adopt interpretivist philosophy .The qualitative research methodology was employed in order to understand in greater details the behaviors, attitudes, opinion and beliefs of the respondent on cohabitation among the students in Maasai Mara university .Data were collected through structured interviews and focus group discussion .Primary research will be conducted using questionnaires survey
