Effects Of Crime On Youths Transition To Adulthood In Bomet County; A Case Study Of Bomet Town

Abstract

ABSTRACT Youth violence is a phenomenon in all countries, and increases in youth deviant behavior have been of considerable concern over the past twenty years all over the world. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of crime on youth’s between 12- 18year transition to adulthood in the Bomet Town. The study will be guided by the following objectives: to find out effects of crime on youths transition to adulthood in Bomet Town in Bomet County; to identify the gender of youths mostly involved in criminal activities in Bomet Town in Bomet County; to identify the government efforts to curb criminal activities of youths in Bomet County and to find out how crime rate among the youth can be reduced in Bomet Town in Bomet County.. The study will utilize descriptive survey design. The accessible population sample of 10% (100respondents) of the total population was obtained for the study. Stratified random sampling was be used to select the sample that represented the whole population. Questionnaires and interview schedules will be used during data collection from respondents. Data collected was analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. After data collection, editing will be done, then coding to facilitate data entry into the computer system to facilitate analysis. Excel spread sheet was used to compute the frequencies and percentages. This enabled the generalization of the results. Results were presented using percentages, frequencies, tables and charts. This research project will be beneficial to youths around Bomet town as they will be able to understand the effects of crime and ways avoiding crime. The study will also benefit Bomet county executive as the county will come up with ways of curbing crime among the youths basing on this study.
