The study has tried to explain what corruption is and the various forms it can take and also tried to identify the various causes or reasons that would influence and lead to corruption. The study has looked into the extent to which ethical issues has affected healthcare provision to patients in the hospital and in general the normal functioning of the hospital. According to the findings of the research a conclusion has been drawn which is that corruption is prevalent in the hospital and it has serious consequences to healthcare provision in the hospital and that a lot has to be done to improve the healthcare. The researcher found that even with the efforts that the hospital has in place to try and deal with corruption by putting in place structures that fight corruption. Anti-corruption measures must be tailored to fit the particular context of a country’s health system. As with any sector, health system corruption is less likely in societies where there is broad adherence to the rule of law, transparency and trust, where the public sector is ruled by effective civil service codes and strong accountability mechanisms, and where there is an independent media and strong civil society. Preventative measures including procurement guidelines; codes of conduct for operators in the health sector, both institutional and individual; and transparency and monitoring procedures are all pressure points for honest behavior which are not part of the law but which can be effective mechanisms to combat corruption. en_US
