dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to investigate the determinants associated with implementation of Public Procurement and Disposal Act in Government institutions in Kenya The study was guided by the following research questions; to investigate whether non-transparency in procurement practices is a determinant in the implementation of public procurement and disposal Act, to determine if records management is a determinant in the implementation of public procurement and disposal Act and to examine if poor financial management is a determinant in the implementation of public procurement and disposal Act in government institutions in Narok County. Questionnaire was the main data collection instrument. The study will be of great significance to the public organizations of Kenya. The government operates essential businesses through its public organization, as a result of this change will be evident hence the study is of great significance as they will support the appropriate policies to support the firms. The study used a case study research design, where the target population was 30 respondents. Census research method was used in the study and the sample size was 30 respondents. Questionnaires were the main instrument used to collect data and then data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented using frequency tables and percentages. From the finding, the study showed that non-transparent procurement practices pose a challenge to the procurement management in the university to a very great extent and corruption is rampant hindering the implementation of the 2005 procurement act and that officials are responsible for decision making. The findings also shows that records management and filing systems affected procurement management to a very great extent as well as Poor technological infrastructure for record keeping. Also the findings showed that poor financial management challenge the management of procurement to a very great extent as well as challenge of budget preparation, hardships in internal controls and Problems in accounting. en_US
