dc.description.abstract This research was intended to understand the influence of intercultural communication on attitudes of individuals of Maasai Mara University. It attempted to evaluate the effects of these attitudes on the performance individuals, interrogate what makes it an area of study, determine what impact these attitudes have on the individuals towards their relation with others within the institution, it further looked to identify the barriers to effective intercultural communication. Qualitative Research Method (QRM) was be used in data collection. This data was then be quantified and assigned a numerical score which enabled analysis by SPSS to allow for generation of statistical measures. Frequency tables and pie charts are used to represent the results. Responses captured in qualitative form are reported and interpreted in a narrative description. The instruments used were questionnaires and interview. It basically dealt with respondents within the university premise where 50 research participants were purposefully selected. The project employed quota sampling as sampling technique. The study indeed revealed that there is an influence of intercultural communication both positive and negative on individual performances. It is also revealed the disputes that comes along with this kind of communication are tribalism, stereotypes, ethnocentrism and egocentrism. These had impacts such as poor performance and inferiority complex that reflected negatively on the growth and existence of the institution. The following were recommended. Involving members of across cultures in decision making on matters that may affect communication on the same. Ensure parity among the university’s decision maker this will give them a sense of belonging. Reintroducing cultural week among others. en_US
