Factors Influencing Suppliers Selection In Procurement Of Goods In Public Organizations In Kenya:A Case Study Of County Government Of Kericho

Abstract

This research is on the factors influencing supplier selection in procurement of goods in public institutions. This was as a result of lack of knowledge by local suppliers on factors public institutions look in selection of suppliers .The topic of the study has identified supplier selection as dependent variable while factors influencing it as independent variable .The objective of this study were to find out if assessment of quality of supplies, supplier profile and service factors like customer service and after sales services were key considerations in selection of suppliers. Different scholars have given out their views concerning the study .out of that ,research gap existed which this study would fill. Target population of the study is 40 POs and 10 COs .A sample size of 20 POs and 10 COs representing 50% and 100% of the total population respectively. The study made use of primary data to collect data which was through the use of questionnaires. Data analysis was done using frequency tables and percentages and presented by us of pie charts. The study revealed that quality of supplies, supplier profile and service factors were key considerations in the selection of suppliers . Recommendations’ and areas for further studies are given.
