dc.description.abstract The realization of the sustainable development goals and Kenya vision 2030 cannot be realized without adequately engaging the youth who comprise the biggest percentage of the Kenyan Labor force.The purpose of this study will be to investigate the success of the government efforts in empowering the youth through groups in Nyandarua with specific reference to Ol-Kalou Sub-County. The specific objectives will be establish the level of the youth satisfaction and acceptability of the government effort to empower them, to investigate youth awareness on the existence of the government effort to empower them, to assess the challenges that hamper youth empowerment via groups and to identify ways through which youth empowerment efforts by the government can be made more effective and efficient. The study has adopted Zimmerman (1995 , 2000) empowerment theory, ecological empowerment theory and critical radical theoryto inform the research. Questionnaires and schedules will be used to collect data from the sample of 50 respondents selected from the list of all youth groups in Ol-Kalou Sub-County.. Data analysis will be done using descriptive statistics of frequencies and percentages from SPSS software version 21. The study is expected to be very beneficial to the government and the policy makers in improving and streamlining youth empowerment for sustainable development of the nation. en_US
