dc.description.abstract The research project is entitled as effect of divorce in families the research is carried in Kisii County Kisii Municipal. It consist of the back ground of the study which clearly shows that many who divorces are middle class people and many are found in towns. As single families increases they sought refuge in towns and this problem needs a solution to curb it. The statement of the problem indicates that family breakup, social misfits in the society has led to divorce, suicide among the children affected and unhealthful habits among the victims and the objectives of the study are general and specific was to find out the causes of divorce among the married. By finding out lack of proper communication, domestic violence, financial challenges are commonly the causes of divorce.Divorce is the total break up between couples. Many who go through this process under psychological problem and women are more stressed than men that the scale of death is 100 while divorce is scale at 73 .Children who are from this families many end up in the streets, prostitution, some commit suicide because there is no parental care. In as much as divorce can affect anybody be it the poor because of financial challenges and domestic violence also among the learned that’s both couples are employed and among them there is misunderstanding either financial misunderstanding, mistrust, improper communication has been the reason among couples to divorce. Research methodology indicates the methods I used, the interview schedules, questionnaire, finally data analysis which I used graphs and descriptive. The finding show that there are those who are already divorced and others are on the process of divorce, others are separated for a while. To curb this challenge that is pandemic marriage counselors should be involved to help couple by training them core factors to maintain marriage. Trained pastors should teach their church members family life issues, the community should preserve its own people to pass knowledge from the elder’s one to the young generation on how to handle families. Finally schools should have programs teaching the students the importance abstaining from sex before marriage and stop earlier marriages that has also increased the high rate of divorce. en_US
