dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to investigate how betting among the university students affects their academic performance. This study was guided by three objectives; to investigate the economic impact of betting on students, to investigate the social impact of betting among the students and to provide alternative ways of recreation to the students apart from betting. The study was conducted in Maasai Mara university. In this study descriptive research design which was appropriate for behavioral concept was used. A total of 230 respondents with 160 males and 70 females, was be used in the study. Data was collected using closed headed questionnaires group discussion questions. The study instrument which was used is questionnaire which will was validated through preliminary pilot testing. The test-retest method was used to determine the reliability. Data collected was analyzed using inferential statistics with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The analyzed data was presented in form of frequency tables. The study has given recommendations to all stakeholders. en_US
