dc.description.abstract Diabetes Mellitus is one of the non-communicable diseases that keep killing human beings across the world. This disease is registering a rapid increase in the number of patients annually globally. This calls for great interest in identifying the contributing risk factors and their consequential effects on the patients. The main aim of the study was to model the relationship between diabetes and its related risk factors in Narok county. From a population of 900 patients who went for diabetic diagnosis, a sample of 100 patients were selected with 46% being males and 54% females. The main diabetic type was type II diabetes inhibited among the patients studied. The data was collected from Narok county health directorate with the aid of Narok District hospital as the key facility. The data collected was modelled using General Additive Model (GAM) 95% confidence interval in Statistica 7 software with the model; with GL the glucose levels and Chol cholesterol amounts. From the non-parametric correlation, there was a significant relationship between diabetes and Body Mass Index, age, cholesterol levels, urine protein content, glucose Levels and treatment cost. en_US
