Agriculture contributes a great deal to the growth of a country. Kenya being among the developing countries is experiencing food insecurity, environmental pollution, and a growth in poverty level. This study investigated the factors influencing the adoption of organic farming in Kiambu County. Stratified sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 120 respondents from three strata’s: Limuru, Kikuyu and Kabete. The data was analyzed using SPSS and Minitab software’s. Binary logistic regression was used in this study to model adoption of organic farming. The result of the binary logistic showed that environmental aspect, organic farming knowledge, marketing, benefit and cost aspects had a significant effect on adoption of organic farming. Moreover, the results showed that environmental aspect was the greatest influencing factor. Conventional farmers seemed to have less knowledge on organic farming therefore their unwillingness to convert to organic farming. |
