dc.description Abstract en_US
dc.description.abstract This project is about an Online Hotel Reservation Portal system to be developed using PHP, JavaScript and MYSQL. The system is on online application which can be hosted and users will need internet connection to access it. This proposal is divided into three chapters, that is, chapter one, chapter two and chapter three. Chapter one is the introduction to the Hotel Reservation Portal and the reasons as to why this system is supposed to be created. The problem statement has been captured under this chapter and it explains how the available systems do not give the managers room to change their product specifications without conducting their application developer. The chapter ends with a study of the project objectives that should be achieved at the end of system development. Chapter two covers the literature review under which the background of the proposed system has been discussed. Examples of hotel reservation systems are covered in detail to bring about the difference between them and the proposed system. This chapter is aimed at reviewing the existing systems so that in case there is one that meets the objectives of proposed system, then it can be adopted instead of wasting resources developing another one. Chapter three covers the methodology used in developing the system. The methodology applied in this case is waterfall model which follows the steps of system development life cycle (SDLC). This is because it was best suited for a system that can be deployed in parallel changeover mode. The steps discussed under waterfall model include: requirement gathering and analysis, system design, implementation, integration and testing, deployment of the system and maintenance. Other types of software methodologies that can be employed include: code and fix, spiral development and rapid prototyping. The chapter ends by discussing the requirements for the proposed systems that is both hardware and software requirements. en_US
