Factors affecting web portal usability in maasai mara university.

Abstract

The study investigated the factors that might significantly affect web portal usability. The factors examined are Results of the study were intended to serve as inputs for web portal development of the Maasai Mara University Descriptive statistics utilized from questionnaire data of 99 Undergraduate students. Correlation and regression analysis were used to identify relationships and explore which of the factors had the strongest explanatory power. The data showed that most of the respondents were skilled in using the computer, and were committed to using the web portal. Respondents perceived that the different web portal design-related factors were moderately evident in the existing web portal. Multiple regression analysis showed that information content, as a web portal design-related factor was the only significant predictor of web portal usability. Thus, the null hypothesis stating that -related and web portal design-related factors do not significantly affect web portal usability is accepted except Information Content. It further revealed most users only revisit the sites as an obligation or lack of a better option. The study also discussed the guidelines for web portal developers, as well as the limitations and implications of the study for future research.
