dc.description Abstract en_US
dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to explore the benefits of the older persons cash transfer programme on the elderly in Kaloleni, Kilifi County. The descriptive case study method was employed to carry out this research. The data was collected through various methods which included questionnaires, key informant interviews, focus group discussions as well as direct observation. The study revealed that the programme has been beneficial to the elderly by reducing extreme poverty, enhancing their access to basic human rights and boosting their economic growth and development. However, the benefits are limited because the money is little and is not given on time as put forward by the beneficiaries themselves. The study recommends that the amount given to the elderly should be increased and given on time and an intensive well-coordinated public education programme should be carried out to sensitize communities, administrators, beneficiaries and other stakeholders of the objects, beneficial value and process of implementation of the older persons cash transfer programme. en_US
