dc.description Abstract en_US
dc.description.abstract Conversions of agricultural land into other uses in the urban areas have been of great concern, to Kenya and the whole world. Kiambu County is a good example of such urban areas among others in Kenya, whereby tea, coffee and other fertile agricultural land pieces are being converted into real estates. This has resulted into large conversions of agricultural land into residential use which has negatively reduced agricultural land use especially food production. This study will be carried out to investigate the effects of the agricultural land use conversions to agricultural production in such urban areas. Githunguri district was chosen as a case study because it was noted to experience a lot of large-scale land conversions to residential use and no previous similar studies have been conducted. The area was selected to represent such other areas in the country. The limitation of finances and time was influential in the decision making. Secondary data will include written sources, both published and unpublished materials. Primary data will entail questionnaires which will be administered to local residents in the study area .The respondents will be selected randomly. The data will be analyzed through descriptive statistics and presented using tables, photographs and graphs. en_US
