dc.description.abstract Universities are traditional centres of higher learning, research and outreach. Moi University was founded through an Act of parliament in 1984, under the forestry department to teach mainly forestry courses. Forestry is panacea to environmental conservation especially through climate change mitigation. Moi university tree nurseries have, for recent years, generated bulk amounts of varieties of seedlings that are distributed to various parts of the country but primarily destined to adjacent rural communities where their role in agricultural landscape management, sustainable rural development and, climate change mitigation has been reported to be successful. This paper highlights the observed positive development changes that Moi University tree nurseries have brought to the rural communities surrounding the university. en_US
