dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT This study discusses the factors that influence small enterprise development among groups in Siaya County. The study examined the detailed information on the youth group, their business and the role of group dynamics, organization learning and management strategies adopted on the success of youth groups owned enterprise. An analysis of the information of the youth group shows the performance of youth groups as poor. Lack of knowledge and information in planning and managing markets and finances and, group size and purpose were found to be the major causes for the poor performance. There is importance for Youth groups to learn and own the enterprises they set up and they should view Youth Fund as one of the many options available for financing their enterprises. In order to achieve this, the youth group should consider factors such as status of the youth group, Group purpose, Group learning, Business Planning and Management. Finally this study identified some of the issues associated with developing small enterprises by youth groups. These emerging themes include; Education, Business Knowledge, Skills and Training, Business Financing, Business Management Strategies, Organizational Learning and Group Dynamics. Small enterprises survive through learning and adjusting to change in terms of meeting customer needs and demands. A business plan is one of the most important elements in entrepreneurship and development of a business plan is considered the most important feature of small business management. en_US
