Abstract:
Corporate Social Responsibility has risen to prominence in recent years and has subsequently
been identified as having the potential to make significant positive contribution to developing
countries. (Visser, 2006).CSR practice practices vary from industry to industry, firm to firm.
Thus this research seeks to find the general practice of CSR in five-star hotels in Nairobi, Kenya;
benefits, types and challenges.
Qualitative research design will be used due to the nature of the questions, but also quantities
design will be used though not extensively. The research will be conducted in Nairobi. Nairobi
was chosen due to the large number of five star hotels to choose from. The study will focus on
senior members of staff from the selected hotels. Simple random sampling will be used to sample
respondents
A total of 50 respondents will be sampled for the study from all hotels. Questionnaires will be
used to gather for the study. Both qualitative and quantitative data analysis technique will be
used to analyze data. Quantitative data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics that is
percentages. The analyzed data will be presented in form of tables, pie-charts and graphs.Findings,
conclusions and recommendations will be derived from the prognosis.
