Abstract:
The research aimed at investigating challenges facing the implementation of CDF projects in Narok North. The study was guided by the following objectives; One was to determine how corruption hinders the implementation of CDF projects in Narok North Constituency office. The second one was to determine how political interference affects the implementation of CDF projects in Narok North constituency. The third one wa to examine the level of project management skills amongst the personnel supervising the implementation of CDF projects in Narok North constituency. The last one was to establish the role played by the community in the implementation of CDF projects in Narok North constituency. The study utilized descriptive research design. This research design was preferred because variables, events, attitudes and situations were described as they existed in their current status. The target population consisted of staff, contractors and management committee members of the Narok North CDF. The data was gotten from primary sources and secondary sources. Primary data was collected through self administered questionnaires while the secondary data was obtained from written reports and other development reports used in Kenya. The study used non-probability purposive sampling to obtain the ample of the target population, in data analysis pie charts and tables were used, measure of central tendency (mean, mode and median), measure of dispersion (standard diversion), frequencies and percentage were used. The researcher found that corruption, political interference, inappropriate project management skills and lack of community involvement and accountability were the major factors that challenged the implementation of CDF projects in Narok North Constituency. It was hoped that the findings of the study will be useful to community members in Narok North constituency by exposing them to the challenge facing the implementation of C F projects and by making them aware of the need to actively participate in the implementation of local location project The findings will also assist the CDF office to easily monitor future projects and improve in the implementation process. It will also help the devolved government officials and project managers to improve the implementation of any nature of projects in future
