This paper in agreement with the theme and the tone of the conference; good policies and ideologies suggested don’t see the light of the day. The constant failure to implement has been gradually putting the nation in a skeptical mood. The Kenyan citizenry need to be redeemed from giving back a negative cynical narrative. The paper will be pragmatic in suggesting a viable approach. We will examine the role of creative educational pedagogies in transforming society. The scope of the research examine how long genres of orature such as secular songs can contribute to the vision 2030 not only as part of artistic enhancement but part of social, economic and political development of the Kenyan nation. The paper will focus on the use of orature and its contribution to Kenya’s vision 2030 with specific focus on selected oral text; the songs which are topical and classical Kenyan music, the latter is popularly known as ‘zilizopendwa.’ We concur with (Okpewho: 1985) that the songs have real essence of true poetry. They have the power to appeal strongly to our appreciation and in a sense to lift us up by touching us emotionally so that we feel pleasure and pain or stirring our minds deeply so that we reflect on some aspects of life or some significant idea. The vision 2030 is a Kenya’s new long term national planning strategy. It is based on three pillars; social economic, and political. In a nut shell, the social pillar seeks to build a just and cohesive society with social equity in a clean and secure environment. The economic pillar aims at providing prosperity to all Kenyans through economic programs. The political stake aims at realizing a democratic political system founded on issue based politics that respects the rule of law and protects the rights and freedoms of every individual in the Kenyan society. Though not implicitly stated, orature has a promising potential of driving Kenya’s social, economic and political growth till 2030 and beyond. Hence the art will be employed to unlock the potentiality. The seminar will explain the need of proper education in preparation appropriate leadership. Selected songs will be analysed and relate the pedagogy in them to vision 2030.We will employ performance theory to underscore the importance of performance.
