dc.description.abstract The Internet has become an essential part of our daily life, and companies realize that the Internet can be a shopping channel to reach existing and potential consumers. In this document, I hay di cussed how to develop a w b-based shopping system. The system has boon developed in compliance with the standards of universal Software Development Life Cycle. It lays on architectural design of MySQL Database, PHP (Hypertext Pre-processor) Language, HTML [Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) web design. The system is used for shopping of materials via an online platform and it will be accessed through the Maasai Mara University Local Area Network (LAN), wireless and later online when the University develops it's on independent website. The system will allow the university community to view and purchase items via the network and have the item delivered to them by the respective retailers to their respective departments or rooms. The main aim IS to demonstrate that with better interaction features in shopping web sites could improve sales via the network. This dissertation includes a literature review giving background information on Online hopping, Producing information of the E- shopper, Investigating and choosing a suitable lifecycle model and developing a web site prototype and, Furthermore, evaluating the finished product whether aim has been achieved. en_US
