dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to analyze the current system that is used in Maasai Mara University to manage student marks and also generate transcripts. The research was also carried out to determine the feasibility of a web based system in the university to help in the processing of the student results. The objectives of the study were: 1. To come up with a web based system that provides the following functionalities: • Allow for students to register for units within the university • Allow lecturers to acquire the list of all registered students. • Allow management of lecturers and assignment of units to the lecturers. • Allow lecturers to submit marks for the students on the units they have taught. • Students should be able to check for their results. • Allow students to request for results via SMS. • Allow existing marks to be uploaded onto the system and transcripts generated based on the uploaded marks. • Be able to register programme units dynamically. 2. To design an effective and secure web based system. Data was collected using literature review, interview and observation of the student maries management system. All respondents were selected using systematic sampling, stratified random sampling and cluster random sampling techniques. The results showed of the study showed that a web based system is the only system that could give the outlined requirements and hence the origin of the idea behind the Campus Wave Revolution (CWR) en_US
