dc.description.abstract This paper is organized in such a way that, a brief overview of different economic crises that have affected the world are presented. The objective of this paper is to find out the effect of the announcement of the first case of Covid-19 in Kenya on the performance of Nairobi securities exchange. The design of this paper is descriptive based. The Nairobi Securities Exchange (20) share index data was obtained 72 days before and 72 days after the announcement of the first case of Covid-19 in Kenya. The mean indices were computed and tested for statistical significance. The independent variable is the announcement of Covid-19 case in Kenya while the Nairobi Securities Exchange indices before and after the announcement of Covid-19 in Kenya are the dependent variables. The results were tested at 0.05 level of significance. en_US
