dc.description Abstract en_US
dc.description.abstract It has been noted that career choice can have a lasting impact on one’s satisfaction not only with the job one does but also on one’s entire life. This study therefore hoped to provide vital information that would help students make the right career choice and reduce dissatisfaction with careers, curb switches in careers and ameliorate the entire quality of life. At MaMU many students are ill-prepared for their career choice either because they were influenced in their choices or were forced to pursue career paths. There is therefore need to provide guidance that would help these students make the right career choices early in life that would position them in careers that they would enjoy and that would match their personalities and academic capabilities. The study was structured to meet three research objective. The findings of this study would provide information to stakeholders - parents, teacher counsellors, and others interested in career choice. This should culminate in a comprehensive career plan for the students at MaMU. MaMU was chosen for this study because it has a metropolitan, multicultural and international outlook; with students from various socio-economic backgrounds. It was expected that students from such different backgrounds would provide different and rich views on what influenced them in their career choice of journalism. It was assumed that the targeted students understood the questionnaires and honestly responded to all the questions, and that some students had already made wrong career choices and might be dissatisfied with their choice after changing from originally allocated courses. en_US
