dc.description.abstract ”With the tremendous change in technology, the media has grown so fast from traditional forms to now new media. The definition of social media is “the relationships that exist between network of people. Social media has greatly affected the behavior of students in Maasai Mara University both positively and negatively. Not only does it affect our behavior and time but also influences behavior of the different generations. On a daily basis, thousands of students spend Countless hours immersed in social media, such as Facebook, twitter, whatsapp, instagram and so many other sites. Although it might first seem to be a waste of time it also makes students gain crucial information and social skills, which motivate them to share it with others. This paper looks at how social media has been used in higher levels of education, how it affects students behavior, the merits of using social media and ways to prevent abuse of social media. en_US
