dc.description.abstract Every organization be it public or private generates enormous volumes of records to document actions, outlines goals and programmes identify rights and privileges and communicate information. The great advances have been made by use of Information Technology (IT ) in recent years which have revolutionized communication both within and outside any organization or government agency have improved way in which information is stored and retrieved. Government computers are therefore generating voluminous of e-records such as e-mails, wordprocesseddocumentsanddatabases.Theimmediatechaliengeofthepublicsector is therefore to preserve these digital records and make them accessible to future generations. At issue is the ability of information scientist to process and manage all records irrespective of storage media, according to acceptable archival standards and guidelines in order to fulfill their mandate and obligations. This study is conducted to investigate the challenges in management of e-records in registries in the context of the newly created county government in Kenya a case study of arok county government registry .The objectives of the study guides the researcher to find out what IT infrastructure and resources exists. The study will look at records currently being created, strategies and policies used in managing those records. The archival legislation will be reviewed to assess how it affected e-records. This study adopts the descriptive research by utilizing the case study approach. Interview schedules will be employed for data gathering, together with observations. The literature review guides the content of the interview schedule Data will be analyzed according to the objectives of the study. en_US
